The V formerly had an MP3 player but couldn't download tunes from V Cast Music. The phone now lets you purchase and download music for $1.99, or you can buy songs on your PC for 99 cents and transfer them to the phone via USB.
Meanwhile, the VZ Navigator features boasts driving directions with auto-rerouting after wrong turns, as well as local search of about 14 million "points of interest," such as restaurants, ATMs, cafes, and the like.
In addition to its QWERTY thumbboard, the clamshell VX9800 comes with EV-DO support, a 1.3-megapixel camera, Bluetooth, wireless e-mail, miniSD memory expansion, and a speakerphone. Available now, the "V" goes for $150 with a two-year service agreement.
