The non-camera V195 comes with world-phone capabilities and Bluetooth, while the budget-priced T209 packs in instant messaging and a speakerphone.
Motorola V195
Motorola's budget world phone (GSM 850/900/1800/1900) may not have a camera, but it manages to squeeze in Bluetooth, a suite of instant messaging apps (including AOL, Yahoo, and ICQ IM), a speakerphone, and voice dialing – that said, mobile surfers might be disappointed by the phone's lack of EDGE support. Measuring 3.6 by 1.8 by 0.9 inches and weighing in at a relatively hefty 3.6 ounces, the V195 also comes with a 65,000-color internal display, a monochrome external LCD, SMS/MMS messaging and a vibrate mode. Available now from T-Mobile, the clamshell is priced at $40 with a two-year service agreement.
Samsung SGH-T209
A near-twin of the Samsung X495, the tri-mode (GSM 850/1800/1900) T209 arrives in two flavors – cherry and silver – and comes with a basic set of features, including Yahoo and AOL instant messaging, a speakerphone, voice memos, SMS/MMS messaging, and a vibrate mode. The T209 is about the same size as the V195, if a bit lighter at 3.3 ounces, and it also has a 65,000-color internal display and a monochrome LCD on the flip. The cherry and silver versions of the T209 are each $20 with a two-year service plan, and they're available now.
