As boring as HSDPA may sound, multiplying download speeds by a factor of six certainly doesn't; the votes are in for the most anticipated high-speed 3G phone - and we couldn't agree more with you.
If you already know all there is to know about HSDPA, you can pride yourself of being ahead of the curve as the technology isn't poised to hit the mainstream until 2007. With the first handsets slated for introduction this very summer, however, bleeding edge adopters are faced with the choice of determining which handset to buy - and what better way than to tap the wisdom of the masses? For the past week, we've been collecting your votes for the most anticipated high-speed 3G phone; here are the results.
In the number four spot, we find the BenQ-Siemens EF91, which ran off with 19% of votes, or near equal that of the 21% received by the second-last contender: Samsung's SGH-Z560. Expectedly, neither handset could compete with the more advanced functionality offered by the T-Mobile MDA Vario II and Fujitsu Siemens' Pocket LOOX T830 business phone offerings, the latter of which snagged the number two spot with 25% of votes - leaving the MDA Vario II as king of the hill with 35% of votes.

T-Mobile MDA Vario II
When: September 2006 (T-Mobile)
Not only on par with the T-Mobile MDA Pro as far as connectivity is concerned, T-Mobile's new MDA Vario II chalks up just about any wireless standard under the sun including Bluetooth 2.0, Wi-Fi 802.11b/g, 3G and HSDPA. A snappy performer not much larger than its predecessor, the MDA Vario, it also includes a redesigned yet highly comfortable thumbboard; a superb 2.8-inch touch screen; and a 2 Megapixel camera - all powered by Windows Mobile 5.0. Due out in the third quarter of 2006, price unknown. |
