Just in time for the World Cup, German carrier Debitel kicks off DMB-T transmissions and sales of Samsung's SGH-P900 TV phone; a match made in heaven, football feinschmeckers might say.
With mere weeks left until the World Cup kicks off in Germany, local carrier Debitel is taking advantage of the upcoming sports event to launch its DMB-T digital broadcast network in tandem with the compatible SGH-P900 from Samsung. Previewed earlier this year at CeBIT, the handset sports a 2.2-inch, high-resolution swivel screen which assumes landscape mode for TV viewing, as well as a raft of other advanced features including a 2 Megapixel camera and a stereo FM radio.
Equipped with EDGE for data connectivity, the handset will be able to receive specialized broadcasts at a frame rate of 30 FPS under ideal conditions. Also, despite its modest measurements, the SGH-P900 manages to include USB connectivity with PictBridge support; Bluetooth; 128 MB of onboard memory; a microSD memory expansion slot; and even TV out.
Price and availability
Available immediately from Debitel for €200 with a subscription, owners will be required to pay a €10 monthly fee to watch DMB-T broadcast on the Samsung SGH-P900.
