  Nokia N80

Score: 76% When: May 2006 Worth: €675 What: Camera phones, 3G phones

Starting off on a high note, the Nokia N80 camera phone lines up a brilliant high-resolution screen and 3 Megapixel-pushing camera only to put its foot in its mouth seconds later through the absence of an autofocus, which hampers its ability to produce quality stills with predictive consistency. Although it also includes the most extensive line-up of printing, publishing and image management services of any camera phone to date, it still falls marginally short of its N90 predecessor - yet retains broader overall appeal due to its music, business and wireless photo streaming functionality, rendering it a superb 3G phone.   Sony Ericsson W900i

Score: 80% When: December 2005 Worth: €550 What: 3G phones, Music phones

As a 3G phone, the Sony Ericsson W900i falls short only in the areas of web browsing and battery life - the latter of which is due to its extensive feature set. Despite these shortcomings, however, the handset goes on to impress with snappy and comprehensive connectivity, hassle-free video calling and a glorious high-resolution screen. As for music, the W900i does an admirable job of replacing lower-end MP3 players with its high sound quality and intuitive user interface, but doesn’t offer the most extensive memory with only 512 MB out-of-box.   Nokia N71

Score: 79% When: May 2006 Worth: €525 What: 3G phones, Nokia phones

In addition to Nokia's usual outstanding wireless performance, the slightly rotund N71 clamshell is an all-rounder which fares decently in most respects, be it whilst shooting quality 2 Megapixel stills; playing music - despite its poor out-of-box audio quality; or doing light e-mail and document viewing. Its main allure is the spacious, high-resolution 2.4-inch display which offers the ideal canvas for its browser - but sadly, this isn't fully exploited due to the lack of layout optimization. Still, the N71 offers a sufficiently broad mix of quality features to earn a hearty recommendation. More...

  Nokia N70

Score: 75% When: October 2005 Worth: €430 What: 3G phones, Business phones

Despite being an otherwise excellent handset, the Nokia N70 struggles to measure up as a business phone mainly as a result of its inability to properly work with documents - for which its keypad and medium resolution screen are to blame. Poor synchronization capabilities further worsen matters, yet there is no denying that the N70 hosts excellent document viewing software, as well as rock-solid connectivity, good battery life, the ability to easily expand memory and a 2 Megapixel camera which delivers impressive results. Add an adequate brower, and you have yourself a decent 3G phone. More...

  Nokia 6680

Score: 60% When: March 2005 Worth: €425 What: Business phones, 3G phones

Whether the Nokia 6680 is an improvement over its predecessor, the 6630, is entirely a matter of preference. For slightly more money, you get dual cameras and an improved standby screen, whereas remaining features are virtually identical. Both are signified by quality hardware and software which together enable a vast array of functionality and blazing data transfer speeds, but business users are still let down by poor synchronization and groupware support. Everyone else, however, will have a blast with the 6680. More...
