With a motion sensor and fitness applications, Sony Ericsson's W710i music phone aims to do more than provide a soundtrack for your workout - complete with hook style earphones and a clip-on arm band.
Targeting the sporty among us, Sony Ericsson's new W710i music phone comes, as one would expect from a handset in the maker's Walkman series, fitted with a music player and a bundled 512 MB Memory Stick Micro card which holds in the range of 6 hours of MP3 music - likely to be sufficient for even the most ardent excercisers. Not only providing a soundtrack to ones workout, the handset is also equipped with a motion sensor and a range of fitness applications which let users keep track of detailed statistics as they go.
A clamshell, the W710i features dual displays, both of which offer access to the aforementioned fitness applications, while the handset also comes bundled with hook style earphones for a better fit as well as a clip-on arm band which lets users easily get a hold of dedicated set of music controls. Should owners tire of their own music, the W710i also offers a stereo FM radio, as well as a 2 Megapixel camera, EDGE support for high-speed data transfers, Bluetooth for connecting (mono) headsets and more.
Price and availability
To be available in either Performance Graphite or Hatha Viloet colour schemes, the Sony Ericsson W710i is expected to hit store shelves in Europe, the Americas, Africa and the Middle East in the third quarter of 2006. Information concerning its pricing was not available at the time of press.

Its call handling is excellent, while messaging performance isn't ideal due to issues with the keypad and a cramped screen; still, the phone makes a good overall impression but is likely to appeal mostly to those in real need of a phone that can take a beating or excercisers interested in its handy Sports application set.
