Five handsets from Nokia's all-singing, all-dancing N series are due out in May and June; among others, the N92 lets you catch up on TV from the beach while the N93 shoots high-res video and stills.

Nokia N91
Score: 87% When: May 2006 Worth: €675
Read the full article » Not much holds the N91 back from scoring full marks in the music department; the lack of bundled quality headphones and stereo Bluetooth audio is about it. Otherwise excellent audio quality, an intuitive interface, comfortable controls and superb music transfer capabilities including Windows Media Connect support are all favoured traits, as is the massive 4 GB of storage - although we're a bit miffed by the rotund form factor. Voice and messaging capabilities are first-rate with the exception of a slightly cramped keypad, while the 2 Megapixel camera and browser are unlikely to impress. As a result of its varied feature set and hard drive reliance, battery life is expectedly average, but the N91 still outperforms the vast majority of music phones at the time of writing. Nokia N71
Score: 79% When: May 2006 Worth: €525
Read the full article » In addition to Nokia's usual outstanding wireless performance, the slightly rotund N71 clamshell is an all-rounder which fares decently in most respects, be it whilst shooting quality 2 Megapixel stills; playing music - despite its poor out-of-box audio quality; or doing light e-mail and document viewing. Its main allure is the spacious, high-resolution 2.4-inch display which offers the ideal canvas for its browser - but sadly, this isn't fully exploited due to the lack of layout optimization. Still, the N71 offers a sufficiently broad mix of quality features to earn a hearty recommendation. Read the full article » |

Nokia N73
Score: 97% When: August 2006 Worth: €550
Read the full article » Falling only marginally short of the image quality produced by its gargantuan N93 sibling, Nokia's N73 is a superb choice for shutterbugs with its excellent picture taking skills, a multitude of sharing options and compact size - but for some strange reason it skimps on memory. The basics have also been looked well after with first-rate calling and solid messaging capabilities under the hood alongside a raft of multimedia and productivity options; whether for pleasure or business, this one's a winner. Nokia N93
Score: 88% When: August 2006 Worth: €550
Read the full article » Suffering from a few teething problems in the software department, the Nokia N93 is undoubtedly capable of shooting high-quality stills and truly outstanding video - as well it should, being built like a brick house. First-rate calling and messaging capabilities are also on the slate along with a boatload of additional features, but unless you're willing to sacrifice portability for the ultimate in imaging there are better balanced options to be had.
