Samsung is set to unveil the first music phone with a whopping 8 GB of storage at CeBIT this week, complete with Windows Mobile 5.0, a 2 Megapixel camera and even TV out.

Samsung SGH-i310 hands-on experience

As good as the SGH-i300 music phone proved to be, the SGH-i310 is better. Increasing storage to a whopping 8 GB, it rear-ends competitors including Sony Ericsson's W950i and the Nokia N91, delivering first-rate audio quality, excellent ergonomics and a snazzy high-resolution display. Now with a 2 Megapixel camera and Windows Mobile 5.0, we're happy to report that Bluetooth stereo audio streaming has been retained - but we're equally miffed by the loss of the dedicated media player and profile switching buttons.

Specifications

Rear-ending its competition, Samsung today offered a glimpse of its newest music phone, the SGH-i310, prior to its unveiling at the CeBIT consumer electronics fair in Germany later this week. Powered by Windows Mobile 5.0, the SGH-i310 integrates a 8 GB hard drive, which is double the capacity of competing offerings including the soon-to-be launched Nokia N91, Sony Ericsson's W950i and its own predecessor, the Samsung SGH-i300.

Other features of the SGH-i310 include Bluetooth with support for stereo audio streaming; a 2 Megapixel camera with flash; TV output; USB 2.0 connectivity for fast content transfers to and from the built-in hard drive; and a microSD card expansion slot should onboard storage prove insufficient. Also, the device will be bundled with document viewing software from Pixel, which supports common formats including Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat.
