Among the first media PCs to incorporate Intel's new Viiv platform, Shuttle offers a sneak peek of its new ultra-small form factor XPC X100 and the rack-sized XPC M2000.
Shuttle XPC X100
Taking the large out of media PC, Shuttle's new XPC X100 is an ultra-small form factor media PC built around an 1.83 GHz Intel Core Duo processor, 512 MB of RAM expandable to 2 GB and a 250 GB SATA II hard drive. Measuring a mere 300 x 210 x 54 mm, it also incorporates an ATI Mobility Radeon X1400 graphics card, as well as a DVD Multi drive, Gigabit Ethernet and Wi-Fi 802.11b/g wireless connectivity.
Other highlights include DVI and S-Video for video output, optical and coaxial outputs for audio and four USB 2.0 ports as well as one FireWire jack.
Shuttle XPC M2000
A successor to Shuttle's XPC M1000 media PC unveiled at last year's CeBIT fair, the M2000 improves on several aspects of its predecessor. Equipped with dual analog tuners with the option to go all-digital or dual hybrid, the M2000 runs on Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 atop an 1.83 GHz Intel Core Duo processor, 1 GB of RAM and a Nvidia GeForce 6600 LE graphics card with 256 MB of dedicated video memory.
Although hard drive sizes for the XPC M2000 are unknown, the PC comes with one 3.5-inch SATA II slot and a USB enclosure for a removable 2.5-inch drive, as well as a Dual Layer DVD drive and a 8-in-1 memory card reader. Video outputs include S-Video, Component, VGA and DVI, while coaxial and optical SPDIF and a 7.1 channel line out represent audio options. Data connectivity, meanwhile, include Wi-Fi 802.11b/g, Gigabit Ethernet, four USB 2.0 ports and FireWire.
Information concerning the expected availability and pricing of the Shuttle XPC X100 and XPC M2000 has yet to be released. According to Shuttle, specifications for the two PCs are also preliminary and could change prior to official release.
