They're smart, fast and slim; boast high-res cameras, screens and audio players; and invoke unadulterated fits of gear envy. From Korea with love, here's Samsung's top handsets.
Samsung SGH-i300x
Take all of the phones below, glue them together and you'll get the SGH-i300x - a Windows Mobile powered smartphone which rear-ends just about anything in sale. A 4 GB hard drive combines with a high-resolution display and considerable processing power to render this device a multimedia powerhouse. Content is piped over a choice of USB or Bluetooth, whereas its EDGE connectivity is best utilized for browsing on the go. The price? €xpensive. (Alright, so they wouldn't tell us. Yet.) Out later this spring. More...
Samsung SGH-P900
Carrying a bunch of media around in your pocket isn't your thing, you say? Enter the SGH-P900, which looks set to become the first phone in Europe to receive digital TV transmissions. Equipped with a 2.2-inch high-resolution swivel display which rotates to landscape mode for TV viewing, it also boasts a 2 Megapixel camera, stereo FM radio, Bluetooth, USB, EDGE and even TV output. Price unknown for the time being, but you'll also get microSD expansion and an audio player when it hits shelves in the second quarter. More...
Samsung SGH-D820
Samsung's sliding alibi, the SGH-D820 is a highly capable handset which builds on a 15 mm thick foundation to offer quad-band GSM with EDGE, a 1.3 Megapixel camera and a 2.12-inch high-resolution QVGA display. Its built-in audio player handles playback of MP3 and AAC formats from either its 73 MB of on-board memory or microSD memory cards, whilst USB with PictBridge support and Bluetooth allow for bi-directional media transfers. Due out any day now, pricing for this handset has also yet to be confirmed. More...
Samsung SGH-Z540
Opting for a clamshell form factor as opposed to the sliding variety, Samsung's SGH-Z540 gives Motorola's RAZR V3x a run for its money with a feature set nearly identical to that of the SGH-D820 slider. Adding 3G and boosting internal memory to 130 MB, it harbours a 2.3-inch QVGA display as well as an external display - as well as a few other bits and bobs. Disappointingly, pricing has not been announced for this handset either, even though it's supposed to be hitting shelves as we speak. More...
Samsung SGH-P300
It's something of an odd inclusion, but we can't help but fall for the SGH-i300. Despite having the footprint of a credit card, this handset manages to squeeze a 1.8-inch, 176 x 220 pixel OLED screen; 1.3 Megapixel camera; MP3 audio player; Bluetooth; and USB into a form factor weighing a mere 65 g. Oh, and although there's a complete lack of pricing information yet again, we do know that it also happens to be a tri-band GSM phone. So there. More...
