Sporting a 2 Megapixel camera, 3G and high-resolution display in a compact slider form factor, Nokia's most advanced non-smartphone handset, the 6280, is headed for stores.
Announced in June 2005 and originally scheduled for arrival by year's end, Nokia has now begun shipping its 6280 slider as the maker's most advanced handset to date. To compete with names such as the BenQ-Siemens
EF81 and Samsung's
SGH-Z540, the 6280 incorporates 3G and tri-band GSM as well as a high-resolution 262K colour screen and dual cameras for enabling video calls, one of which clocks in at 2 Megapixels to shoot stills and record video.
Offering up to 74 MB of user available memory, the 6280 also includes the full compliment of Nokia's messaging applications including instant messaging and e-mail clients. Nokia's Xpress audio messaging and Push-To-Talk are also present, as is a stereo FM radio; audio player; comprehensive connectivity by way of Bluetooth, Infrared and USB 2.0; and miniSD card memory expansion.
Claiming a talk time of up to 3 hours and up to 250 hours of standby, the Nokia 6280 is now hitting shelves across Europe at €375 EUR.
