Multi-format audio and video streaming courtesy of wired and wireless connectivity renders HP's SLC3760N 37-inch LCD HDTV a true multimedia marvel. Bonus: it does TV, too.

Expanding its line-up of LCD HDTVs, Hewlett-Packard today announced the introduction of the company's most advanced TV to date, the 37-inch Advanced Digital Media SLC3760N. Featuring onboard audio and video playback capabilities drawing content from either a home network or directly from the Internet, the TV is equipped with wired and wireless connectivity to rank firmly among the most advanced HDTVs the US has seen to date.

Equipped with a 37-inch panel with a native resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels, the SLC3760N delivers a high-end contrast ratio of 6,000:1, 450 cd/m2 brightness, 176-degree viewing angle and a response time of a mere 6 ms. An integrated HV tuner is joined by a wide array of connectors including four RCA stereo in ports; one for HDMI audio in; triple Composite connectors; a single S-Video jack; dual Component ports; and a single HDMI connector. Also present are RCA stereo out and optical SPDIF audio out ports.

In the audio department, the SLC3760N's dual 20W speakers with 3D surround sound support play back formats from MP2 through MP3, WMA and WMA-Pro, whilst the panel itself caters to video formats including MPEG1/2/4, DivX, WMV, WMV-HD and DVR-MS. Also present is photo viewing with JPEG, BMP, GIF and PNG formats on the slate, whilst underlying technologies include Windows Media Connect, DLNA 1.0 and Intel Viiv.

Furthermore, the SLC3760N is also capable of streaming audio and video directly from the Internet courtesy of compatibility with RealNetworks' Rhapsody online music subscription service and CinemaNow, respectively providing in excess of 1 million tunes and 6,000 movies. To pipe all of the content available, the TV features 10/100 Ethernet connectivity as well as Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g for a fully untethered experience.

The HP SLC3760N is expected to be available in the US early summer 2006. Hewlett-Packard did not comment on the expected pricing of the TV.
