Impossibly small, Motorola's new H5 Miniblue headset fits entirely into a user's ear canal; the H605 is a larger, hook-style headset which claims a whopping 10 hours of talk time.

Expanding its portfolio of Bluetooth headsets, Motorola today unveiled two new additions to its line-up in the H5 Miniblue and H605. The latter headset features a more conventional hook-style design, whilst the former fits entirely into a user's ear canal and is only rivalled in size by the minute Bluespoon 5G from Nextlink.

Measuring a mere 41 x 33 mm, the H5 Miniblue relies an in-ear microphone and speaker to record and play back audio, the former of which presents an alternate approach to noise reduction. As a result of its petite size, the headset offers a similarly modest talk time of up to 1.5 hours which can be extended to up to 7.5 hours through its portable charging base.

Equipped with support for the Headset and Handset profiles, the H5 Miniblue relies on Bluetooth 1.2 for a range of up to 10 meters.

To square off with competitors such as the Sony Ericsson HBH-610 and Nokia's Wireless Headset HS-26W, the H605 offers far lengthier talk and standby times at up to a whopping 10 and 200 hours, respectively. Constructed using the common hook style design, the headset is cushioned with soft materials in a bid to increase comfort, also featuring a blue indicator light and a pivoting earpiece.

Two buttons will let users adjust volume and mute the microphone, whilst a third handles incoming and outgoing calls as well as voice dialing. Similar to the H5 Miniblue, the H605 is a Bluetooth 1.2 headset with a range of 10 meters, supporting the Headset and Handsfree profiles - but also includes a mini USB connector for charging by way of laptops.

The Motorola H605 is slated for availability in January, whilst the H5 Miniblue is rather vaguely said to hit shelves in the first half of 2006; neither headset has received a price tag as of yet.
