The hook style BW900 Bluetooth headset debuts sporting automatic volume adjustment and microphone sensitivity courtesy of Sennheiser's Adaptive Intelligence technology.
Entering a heated fray, audio specialist Sennheiser has unveiled the company's first Bluetooth headset in the BW900. Equipped with the company's proprietary Adaptive Intelligence technology, the headset automatically adjusts earphone volume and microphone sensitivity to reduce the impact of ambient noise surrounding the wearer, also allowing for manual adjustments.
Uncommonly, the BW900 belongs to the 'Class A' category of Bluetooth devices which operate with a maximum range of 100 meters, as opposed to Class B headsets such as
the Nokia Wireless Headset HS-26W and
Sony Ericsson HBH-610 which offer a maximum range of 10 meters. To exploit this ability, however, the BW900 must be used in conjunction with a similarly capable Bluetooth device, of which none are available currently.
Supporting both Headset and Handsfree profiles, the BW900 can also maintain pairings with up to 8 other Bluetooth devices simultaneously.
To be available in January 2006, the Sennheiser BW900 will sell at a suggested retail price of$330 USD, a price range in which its only competitor will be
the Nextlink Bluespoon Digital.
