Scoring a US exclusive, T-Mobile stocks its shelves with Samsung's most recent slim slider, the SGH-T809. Features include a high-resolution display, Megapixel camera, EDGE and more.
Extending the upper end of its handset portfolio, mobile network operator T-Mobile today announced that it has acquired Samsung's newest slider, the SGH-T809, for inclusion into its high-end range. The handset, which is closely related to the SGH-D800 and SGH-D820 sliders recently unveiled by Samsung for Europe, offers a raft of advanced technologies despite its slim form factor and recently
received accolades from infoSync World.
A quad-band GSM slider, the SGH-T809 squeezes a 262K colour high resolution display into a compact form factor measuring 4 x 2.1 x .6 inches and weighing 3.3 oz. Also present is a 1.3 Megapixel camera which records video as well as shoots stills, storing content on microSD cards up to 512 MB in size. The latter can also be utilized by the handset's audio player for storing MP3 files beyond the 70 MB of internal memory - also with the option of using MP3 files as ringtones.
Equipped with EDGE for high-speed data, the SGH-T809 also features Bluetooth for short-range connectivity alongside USB 2.0 as the handset's wired alibi. Other highlights include an integrated instant messaging client with support for AIM, Yahoo! and ICQ, as well as a microbrowser and basic e-mail client.
One of the latest additions to Samsung's line-up of high-end handsets for the US including
the anorectic MM-A900 and MM-A920 clamshells, the SGH-T809 will go on sale from T-Mobile on December 9. To sell from $250 USD with service agreement, the handset will shortly be facing several competitors, among them the
Nokia 6282 slider which is due out in the first quarter of 2006.
