Carrier Sprint is lining up more goodies by the month; we pick five of our favourites, ranging from high-powered communicators to slim and sultry clamshells - think speed and beauty.
Sprint PPC-6700
As the sole flag bearer for Windows Mobile from Sprint, the PPC-6700 has a lot riding on it - but then again, it has a lot of features, too. This communicator sports a slide-out landscape thumbboard along with both EV-DO and Wi-Fi for high-speed connectivity be it long or short range; a miniSD card slot for memory expansion; a 1.3 Megapixel camera; and Bluetooth. Yours for a mere $480 USD. More...
Samsung MM-A900
Where the PPC-6700 is a tad chunky, the MM-A900 - aka 'The Blade' - represents its polar opposite. A fierce competitor to the Motorola RAZR V3c, this über-phone measures nary half an inch when closed and boasts features galore. From $350 USD, you get a 1.3 Megapixel camera, EV-DO for snappy data transfers, a high-resolution QVGA display and a music player supporting MP3 and AAC formats - although no means of memory expansion. Motorola i930
Although not as clever as the PPC-6700, the i930 from Motorola isn't quite as large either - and to be honest, it runs on the Nextel network which isn't really Sprint despite their recent merger. Still, it's worthy of inclusion due to its Walkie-Talkie capabilities and it being the sole Windows Mobile smartphone offered by the duo; other highlights include an SD/MMC card expansion slot and Pocket Windows Media Player 10. To be available any day now, the Motorola i930 starts at $500 USD. More...
Samsung MM-A940
It might not be as cool as the MM-A900, but the MM-A940 doesn't take a back seat to any of the other devices listed here in terms of features. A 2 Megapixel camera with autofocus sees to that, alongside a swivel screen clamshell form factor, EV-DO support and a high-resolution display. Singin' and dancin', the handset also includes a music player - complete with microSD memory expansion, Bluetooth and USB for transfers; from $250 USD, it's an outright steal. More...
Sprint Treo 650
An oldie but still a goodie, the Sprint edition of Palm's Treo 650 still ranks among the best communicator we've seen despite its age. Granted, its feature set is looking a bit dated, but for $500 USD you still get a decent set of functionality including a high resolution screen, superb thumbboard and a broad suite of applications of various kinds and makes. Alright, so its 0.3 Megapixel camera is a pithy nowadays, but you can't have it all. More...
