Boasting high-resolution displays, 2 Megapixel cameras, high-speed 3G data and a raft of other features, Nokia debuts its latest candybars in the 6233 and Vodafone exclusive 6234.
Not content with unveiling a version of its soon-to-be released 6280 3G slider for the US market - where it is to be dubbed the 6282 - Nokia today also announced the upcoming launch of the 6233 and 6234 handsets, both of which are also 3G enabled. Spitting images of one another, the two handsets include a range of high-end features including QVGA displays, 2 Megapixel cameras and more.
Equipped with tri-band GSM and 3G support, the modestly sized Nokia 6233 measures in at 110 g and 108 x 46 x 18 mm. Despite its size, Nokia has managed to cram in a 2 Megapixel camera with 8x digital zoom, for which the high-resolution QVGA display doubles as a viewfinder. The display also features the latest version of Nokia's Series 40 platform, which includes a new Active Standby mode providing rapid access to frequently used applications.
Built around a stainless steel frame, the 6233 also packs dual stereo speakers and a music player supporting AAC and MP3 formats as well as a microSD card slot for memory expansion. Also capable of audio and video streaming across 3G networks, the handset includes support for SyncML to enable calendar, contact and to-do data for enterprise users. Bluetooth is also included, offering among other functionality headset and printer connectivity.
Featuring a stereo FM radio and Nokia's Visual Radio client, the Nokia 6233 claims a battery life of up to 4 hours of talk time on GSM networks and up to two weeks of standby.
The Nokia 6234, meanwhile, is an exact clone of the 6233, differing only slightly in its visual appearances and the fact that it will be carried exclusively by carrier Vodafone and is to feature its Vodafone live! service. This handset is slated to ship in the first quarter of 2006, whereas information concerning its pricing was not available.
The Nokia 6233, however, is expected to begin shipping in the second quarter of 2006 for €325 EUR.
