Piggybacking on the beta launch of Skype 2.0, Creative unveils its Webcam Instant Skype Edition - tailored, branded and certified for making video calls across the Internet.

Chalking up a first, Creative today announced the first Skype branded and certified web camera in its self-explicatorily named Webcam Instant Skype Edition. Launched in conjunction with today's unveiling of Skype 2.0 beta sporting newfound support for video calls, the camera is due to hit shelves in a matter of days.

Including a free voucher for up to 30 minutes of the SkypeOut dial-to-landline service, the camera comes with a personal headset with microphone, software and a stand-alone microphone for conference calls. Relying on a CMOS sensor, the camera captures video at a CIF resolution of 352 x 288 pixels and 30 frames per second.

Delivered with a stand which allows for attaching the camera to laptop screens as well as be positioned on tables, the Creative Webcam Instant Skype Edition will be available across Europe in early December 2005, selling in the €40 EUR range.
