Joining siblings large and small, O2 today introduced the arrival of the XDA Mini S communicator on UK shelves, featuring Windows Mobile 5.0 and advanced connectivity.
Following hot on the heels of
T-Mobile's MDA Vario and
the Orange SPV M3000, O2 today announced its take on a device also known as the HTC Wizard; the XDA Mini S. Sporting a slide-out thumbboard, the device is equipped with Windows Mobile 5.0 and features on-the-fly swiching between landscape and portrait modes as well as a broad range of connectivity options.
Powered by a TI OMAP 850 processor running at a modest 200 MHz, the XDA Mini S offers a feature set nearly identical to that of its competitors from T-Mobile and Orange. This includes a 2.8-inch, 65K colour QVGA display with a resolution of 240 x 320 pixels, as well as an integrated 1.3 Megapixel camera and the landscape-oriented, slide-out thumbboard.
A quad-band GSM/GPRS device with support for 850/900/1800/1900 MHz frequency bands, the XDA Mini S also incorporates Bluetooth 2.0 and Wi-Fi 802.11b for short-range connectivity along with a distinctly legacy-friendly Infrared port. Also featured is a mini USB connector which pulls double duty as the AC input of the device.
Sporting dual speakers and a 2.5 mm earphone jack, the petite communicator is equipped with a miniSD card expansion slot for extending its built-in memory, of which 128 MB is of the persistent variety and another 64 MB RAM for running applications. The total weight comes to 160 g, with O2 claiming up to 5 hours of talk time and up to 200 hours of standby time from the Mini S.
Available immediately in the UK, the O2 XDA Mini S can be had from £260 GBP, or €450 EUR, with service agreement.
