Slimmer and faster than its predecessor, the Fujitsu LifeBook P7120 offers a 1.2 GHz processor, up to 60 GB of hard drive space and a 10.6-inch widescreen display.
Improving on its
P7010 series of ultraportables, Fujitsu has announced the LifeBook P7120 and P7120D toting slimmer silhouettes and a marginally faster processor. The two models differ only in the departments of software and Wi-Fi, the latter in which the P7120 offers an Intel-based tri-mode solution and the P7120D offers an Atheros solution - also this tri-mode 802.11a/b/g, but with the option of increased transfer speeds courtesy of Atheros' Super AG technology.
An Intel Pentium M 753 processor with 1.2 GHz powers both laptops, backed up by between 512 MB and 2 GB of DDR2 400 MHz RAM and a choice of 30 or 60 GB shock-mounted hard drives, both spinning at 4,200 RPM. Despite its slim form factor, the P7120 series also includes a drive bay, offering the option of either a Dual Layer DVD writer or CD-RW/DVD-ROM combo drive.
For connectivity, the P7120 offers a number of wired options in addition to the aforementioned Wi-Fi support and optional integrated Bluetooth. This includes 10/100 Ethernet and a 56K V.92 modem, as well as three USB 2.0 ports, FireWire, VGA and S-Video out. Also, PCMCIA Type II card expansion is available, whilst Memory Stick PRO, SD/MMC and xD Picture Cards are supported by means of an integrated media reader.
The display of this ultraportable is a LED backlit, 10.6-inch widescreen XGA display powered by today's de facto integrated graphics solution: an Intel 900 GMA video controller drawing up to 128 MB of memory from the system's main banks.
Courtesy of the removable media bay, users can add an extra battery to the P7120 for a claimed 11 hours of battery life in conjunction with Fujitsu's proprietary ECO power saving mode - also graced with a dedicated button. Other highlights include an integrated Trusted Platform Module (TPM) and built-in fingerprint reader, as well as dual array microphones and noise-cancelling software.
Available immediately in the US, the Fujitsu LifeBook P7120 notebook starts at $1,700 USD for a basic configuration.
