Running Windows Mobile 5.0, the E-TEN M600 communicator offers quad-band GSM, a 2.8-inch QVGA touch screen, Bluetooth 1.2, a 1.3 Megapixel camera - and Wi-Fi.
Sizing up to more established brands, E-TEN has unveiled the M-600 communicator based on the latest version of Microsoft's Windows Mobile platform. Offering an advanced feature set in a small form factor device, the M600 is based around a 400 MHz Samsung S3C 2440 processor running in tandem with 64 MB of RAM and 128 MB of ROM.
Equipped with a 2.8-inch, 65K colour touch screen with a QVGA resolution of 240 x 320 pixels, the M600 is a quad-band GSM/GPRS device with support for 850, 900, 1800 and 1900 MHz bands and GPRS Class 10. At 165 g and 112 x 61 x 22 mm, the device also incorporates a 1.3 Megapixel camera shooting stills at up to 1280 x 960 pixels with brightness and white balance adjustment.
For short-range connectivity, the M600 offers a combination of Bluetooth 1.2 and Wi-Fi 802.11b, as well as an SDIO capable SD/MMC card expansion slot for memory or accessory expansion. As a wired alternative, the communicator also offers USB 2.0.
Claiming a talk time of up to 4 hours and standby time of up to 200 hours from its 1,440 mAh Lithium Ion battery, the M600 also comes bundled with a version of Skype's software for VoIP communications and a collection of several other voice related applications and small utilities.
The E-TEN M600 is currently available in Taiwan and is expected to be available in Western markets including Europe and the US in November of 2005. Information concerning the expected pricing in these markets was not available at the time of press.
