With Windows Mobile 5.0, a QVGA display and an integrated thumbboard under its belt, the Orange SPV M3000 switches from portrait to landscape at the flick of ones wrist.
Orange SPV M3000 review summary
Although disappointingly void of 3G connectivity, the Orange SPV M3000 performs an admirable balancing act with features on one side of the bar and size on the other. Its first-rate thumbboard joins a decent set of applications to render document management a pleasant experience, while comprehensive connectivity and excellent battery life will keep even power users connected and ticking all day long. Granted, its performance is modest and memory is limited, but neither impact the execution of common productivity tasks measurably.

Orange SPV M3000 launch coverage
Further expanding its line-up of communicators, Orange today unveiled the SPV M3000, literally sliding into the operator's portfolio beneath the
SPV M5000 über-communicator. Sporting Windows Mobile 5.0, the SPV M3000 features a slide-out QWERTY thumbboard in a landscape form factor, enabling rapid switching between portrait and landscape modes.
Powered by a 195 MHz TI OMAP 850 processor, the SPV M3000 features 64 MB of RAM and 128 MB of ROM, and is further expandable courtesy of its miniSD memory card slot. At 160 g and 108 x 58 x 24 mm, the communicator also integrates a 1.3 Megapixel camera and a 65K colour QVGA display with a resolution of 240 x 320 pixels as well as a landscape QWERTY thumbboard.
Quad-band GSM 850/900/1800/1900 MHz with GPRS and EDGE support delivers WAN connectivity, whilst shorter-range options flourish in the shape of Infrared, Bluetooth 2.0 and Wi-Fi 802.11b. Also, the SPV M3000 runs the very latest edition of Microsoft's Windows Mobile platform, version 5.0, and as such offers improvements to several applications over previous communicators running Windows Mobile 2003.
Slated for availability in France from the end of October, the Orange SPV M3000 will also be shipping in other markets - not including the UK - including Poland, Netherlands, Slovakia and Romania from the first week of November. Its pricing is expected to hover in the €300 EUR range.
