Verizon Wireless today announced that the operator is now carrying the new Samsung SCH-A795 world phone, compatible with both CDMA and GSM networks. The successor to Verizon's previous world phone, the
Samsung SCH-A790, the SCH-A795 will enable subscribers to connect to virtually all cellular networks across the globe.
Supporting CDMA 800/1900 MHz and GSM 900/1800 MHz, the SCH-A795 is fitted with both CDMA2000 1xRTT and GPRS for data transfer support, enabling data connectivity as well as voice calls. The clamshell handset incorporates both an external display with a resolution of 128 x 96 pixels and 65K colour depth as well as an internal display with a resolution of 176 x 220 pixels and 262K colour depth, the former of which supports picture caller ID.
Messaging support includes SMS, EMS and MMS, and the SCH-A795 also comes with a full compliment of PIM applications as well as a bi-lingual English/Spanish user interface. Other features include advanced speech recognition and 32-tone polyphonic ringtones.
Available immediately from Verizon Wireless, the Samsung SCH-A795 starts at $350 USD with a two year service agreement.
