Enabling automatic transitions between 3G and other network connections such as Wi-Fi and LAN, Toshiba's 15.4-inch widescreen Satellite M70 debuts with a unique selling point.
Toshiba today announced the latest addition to the company's line-up of Satellite notebook PCs, the Satellite M70. Sporting a 15.4-inch widescreen display, the notebook is Toshiba's first to offer automatic switching between UMTS-based 3G networks and other network connections such as LAN and Wi-Fi, although the notebook does not integrate 3G connectivity.
Powered by Intel Pentium M processors ranging from 730 through 780, the Satellite M70 tops out at 2.26 GHz with 2 MB of L2 cache and is configurable up to 2 GB of 533 MHz DDR2 SDRAM. Storage space is plentiful with a 120 GB SATA drive in place, with optical capabilities provided by a Dual Layer DVD drive.
A 15.4-inch widescreen display with a WXGA resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels is powered by an ATI Mobility Radeon X700 with 128 MB of dedicated video memory, whilst - as with so many other Toshiba notebooks - the Satellite M70 also integrates Harman Kardon stereo speakers with SRS WOW XT and SRS TruSurround XT.
Connectivity is courtesy of 10/100 Ethernet and a 56K V.92 modem, as well as triple USB 2.0 ports, FireWire and expansion slots for PCMCIA Type II, ExpressCard and a 5-in-1 media reader.
Running Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition SP2, the Satellite M70 also comes equipped with ExpressMediaPlayer software which offers instant-on media access to users.
Available immediately throughout Europe, the Toshiba Satellite M70 retails for £900 GBP, or €1,330 EUR.
