Now available from T-Mobile, the tri-band Samsung SGH-T309 clamshell handset offers a 0.3 Megapixel camera and talks to AIM, Yahoo! and ICQ instant messaging services.
Although the handset has yet to be officially announced, T-Mobile has initiated sales of the SGH-T309 clamshell from Samsung. A tri-band GSM 850/1800/1900 MHz handset, the SGH-T309 measures in at 3.7 x 1.9 x 1 inches and weighs 3 oz, incorporating among other features a 0.3 Megapixel camera capable of shooting stills at resolutions up to 640 x 480 pixels.
With 4x digital zoom, the camera of the handset also offers a self-timer which can be set to 3, 5 or 10 seconds and a multi-shot function which snaps 6, 9 or 15 shots at normal or high speed. Post-snapping, effects and frames can be added to images, whilst editing functions include rotation and brightness adjustment, with the SGH-T309 also offering a night mode and LED flash.
Also capable of video playback on its 65K TFT internal colour display with a resolution of 128 x 160 pixels, the SGH-T309 sports a monochrome external display to provide users with basic information.
A number of applications are offered by the SGH-T309, including a microbrowser, calendar, phone book and several games, as well as several small utilities such as a calculator and an alarm clock.
Other highlights of the handset includes its speakerphone function along with 40-tone polyphonic and MP3 ringtones; support for SMS, EMS and MMS messaging; and its compatibility with instant messaging services AIM, Yahoo! And ICQ.
Immediately available in the US through mobile network operator T-Mobile, the Samsung SGH-T309 sells for $150 USD with service agreement.
