Yet another music phone sees the light of day as Verizon Wireless brings forth the Samsung SCH-A950 boasting an audio player, microSD expansion, 1.3 Megapixel camera, Bluetooth and more.
Expanding its line-up of high-end handsets, mobile network operator Verizon Wireless has announced the introduction of the Samsung SCH-A950. A clamshell handset, the compact device offers a range of high-end features and is one of many recent music-oriented handsets to hit shelves, also boasting expansion by means of microSD, Bluetooth connectivity and a high-resolution camera.
Measuring a petite 3.6 x 1.9 x 1 inches and 4.5 oz, the SCH-A950 is a dual-band CDMA 800/1900 MHz handset with dual displays. A 65K colour STN display with a resolution of 128 x 96 pixels graces the exterior of the handset, whilst a 176 x 220 pixel, 262K colour TFT display is concealed inside along with a T9-enabled numerical keypad.
Equipped with a number of features, the highlight of the SCH-A950 is its MP3 player, complete with hard buttons beneath the external display to let users navigate playlists when the handset is closed. Similarly, a jog dial allows for scrolling when the handset is open, and the SCH-A950 will be able to store up to 1 GB of data courtesy of its microSD expansion slot. For those who want to share their music with others nearby, the handset also incorporates dual stereo speakers in addition to its stereo headset jack.
Also able to draw upon the benefits of the microSD expansion slot is the integrated 1.3 Megapixel camera which lets users record video clips as well as shoot stills. The SCH-A950 is also capable of streaming video on demand through Verizon's V CAST service, as well as downloading content for playback at a later time.
Other highlights include speaker independent voice recognition, Bluetooth with support for Headset and Handsfree profiles, speakerphone capabilities and 64-tone polyphonic ringtones.
The Samsung SCH-A950 is available immediately in the US for $250 USD with a two-year service agreement.
