Due out next year, the PDH400 portable media viewer by Pace will combine up to 40 GB of hard drive space with audio/video recording capabilities and DVB-H digital TV reception.
No stranger to the portable media viewer game, UK based Pace has announced its intent to bring forward a DVB-H enabled version of its PDP400 - to be known as the PDH400 - next year. Based around the same feature set as that of the PDP400, the PDH400 will include a range of audio/video playback and recording features, adding support for digital TV reception on the go courtesy of the DVB-H standard growing increasingly popular in Europe.
To sport a 4.3-inch widescreen TFT LCD with a resolution of 480 x 272 pixels and 262K colour depth, the PDH400 will be available in sizes of up to 40 GB with data transfers courtesy of USB 2.0 connectivity and memory expansion by way of SD cards. Measuring 140 x 125 x 20 mm and weighing 350 g, the device follows a form factor closely reminiscent of Samsung's
YH-999 Portable Media Center.
A broad range of audio and video formats are supported by the PDH400, including MP3, WMA 9, AC3 and AAC for the former as well as MPEG2, MPEG4, XviD, DivX, H.264 and Windows Media 9 for the latter. Furthermore, the unit also includes the aforementioned DVB-H tuner, as well as a UHF tuner supporting bands IV and V.
Due out in 2006, further information concerning the expected pricing and availability of the Pace PDH400 was not disclosed.
