The latest handheld from Navman to integrate a GPS receiver, the PiN 570, combines a 3.5-inch display with a sensible set of specifications and Windows Mobile 2003.
Navman has announced the second version of its Personal Interactive Navigator (PiN) handheld with integrated GPS reception in the PiN 570, based on the Windows Mobile platform. Pre-loaded with the latest version of Navman's SmartST 2005 software, the handheld offers a modest set of specifications and the 2003 edition of the Windows Mobile platform sans Windows Media Player 10 Mobile.
The Navman PiN 570 is equipped with a 3.5-inch transflective TFT display with a resolution of 240 x 320 pixels and 65K colour depth, powered by a Samsung 266 MHz processor in tandem with 64 MB of RAM. Void of wireless connectivity, the handheld features an SDIO capable SD/MMC card expansion slot as its sole means of communications on the go, whereas USB 2.0 connectivity allows for PC connectivity.
Delivered with a 128 MB MMC card which contains map data, the PiN 570 comes with Navman's own SmartST 2005 GPS software which offers turn-by-turn directions in nine languages; multiple navigation views including several 2D and 3D; a journey planner; bookmarked points of interest; and alert solutions for specified types of POIs.
Additional SmartST 2005 capabilities include integration with Outlook Mobile for address-to-contact routing, rerouting when off-course, a ZIP code search tool, the ability to pre-select areas to avoid, a town-to-town routing function, a list of favorite and recent destinations, and a complete route summary.
Now available in the US, the Navman PiN 570 sells for $500 USD. Available outside the US is as of this writing unknown.
