Offering a 3.5-inch TFT display, multi-format audio and video support and hard drive sizes of either 20 GB or 40 GB, Acer's new Personal Media Player MP-500 is just around the corner.
Although the device has yet to be officially announced, Acer recently offered a sneak peek of its Personal Media Player MP-500 at its autumn event in Athens, Greece. Likely to be announced before Christmas, the device will include support for a number of common audio and video formats, although whether Digital Rights Management is supported remains unknown.
Featuring a 3.5-inch TFT screen of unknown resolution, the MP-500 will be available in sizes of either 20 or 40 GB, also incorporating an SD/MMC slot for transferring data directly to the internal drive of the unit. This feature, in combination with photo viewing software, will let casual photographers offload and view pictures whilst on the go.
The primary purpose of the MP-500, however, is to play back audio and video content. To this end, the device includes support for both MP3 and WMA formats, as well as MPEG and MPEG4 - the latter of which also entails DivX and XviD. In addition, the MP-500 is also said to be capable of audio and video recording, although Acer declined to elaborate on which formats would be used.
