A 17-inch widescreen with TruBrite, DVD SuperMulti drive, 100 GB of hard drive storage and more makes up the Toshiba Satellite M65-S809, due out in time for the holidays.
Preparing for the holiday season, Toshiba today announced the introduction of the Satellite M65-S809, a the company's most recent addition to its line-up of 17-inch notebooks. A lightweight desktop replacement notebook, the M65-S809 weighs in at 3.32 Kg with a widescreen display sporting TruBrite technology and a WXGA resolution of 1440 x 900 pixels, powered by an Intel GMA 900 chipset with 8-128 MB dynamically allocated.
Powered by an Intel Pentium M 740 processor running at 1.73 GHz with 2 MB of L2 cache atop an Intel 915 GM chipset, the Satellite M65-S809 comes configured with 512 MB of DDR2 533 MHz SDRAM, expandable to 2 GB. Also present is a 100 GB EIDE drive, spinning at 5,400 RPM alongside a DVD SuperMulti drive supporting a total of 11 formats.
For connectivity, the M65-S809 provides Wi-Fi 802.11b/g as well as a variety of wired options including 10/100 Ethernet; a 56K V.92 modem; three USB 2.0 ports; FireWire; a PCMCIA Type II card slot; one ExpressCard slot; and a five-format media reader supporting SD/MMC cards, Memory Stick, Memory Stick PRO and xD Picture Cards. Also present are VGA and S-Video ports for video out.
Built-in Harman/Kardon stereo speakers and SRS TruSurround XT add to the audio experience, all contained within the 394 x 280 x 30 mm chassis of the notebook which also includes a 4,300 mAh Lithium Ion battery claiming up to 4 hours and 45 minutes of battery life according to MobileMark.
Toshiba offers its ConfigFree wireless management software with the notebook, which also comes bundled with Microsoft OneNote 2003 and Microsoft Works 8.0.
Starting at $1,500 USD, the Toshiba Satellite M65-S809 is immediately available from Toshiba in North America in a sunlight copper colour configuration.
