Prepare for the clash of the titans: powered by Windows Mobile, the 3 GB Samsung SGH-i300 readies for head-on competition with the 4 GB Nokia N91 in a music smartphone showdown.

Gearing up to give Nokia's hotly anticipated N91 music phone a bit of competition, the Windows Mobile powered Samsung SGH-i300 will hit UK shelves next month, exclusive to mobile network operator O2. Sporting a 3 GB hard drive, the smartphone will also boast a 262K colour QVGA screen and be powered by version 5.0 of Microsoft's Windows Mobile platform, doubling as a full Windows Media device courtesy of its inclusion of Pocket Windows Media Player 10.

Other features of the SGH-i300 include a 1.3 Megapixel camera, Bluetooth, dual stereo speakers and scroll wheel navigation, with the device weighing in at 130 g and measuring 113 x 48 x 20 mm. Furthermore, a microSD card expansion slot is also present, as is the ability to record and play back video in MPEG4 format along with playback only support for H.263, H.264 and WMV formats.

Due out in the UK in October, the Samsung SGH-i300 will sell for £80 GBP, or €115 EUR with service agreement.
