Sporting a 6-inch display with 65K colour depth and broad memory card compatibility, Philips' new Digital Photo Display aims to revive the concept of the digital photo frame.
Whilst previous attempts at the concept of digital photo frames have proven less than successful, Dutch electronics specialist Philips believes it might have what it takes to succeed with its new Digital Photo Display. Sporting a 6-inch screen with a resolution of 720 x 480 pixels, the frame offers a density of 133 DPI and brightness of up to 200 nits, with both horizontal and vertical viewing angles approaching 85 degrees.
Accepting a variety of memory card formats including SD/MMC, Memory Stick, Memory Stick PRO and CompactFlash Type I as well as USB transfers, the Digital Photo Display can hold 50 or more photos at a maximum resolution of 12 Megapixels. The display can be fixed in either portrait or landscape modes, and offers several different viewing modes such as a thumbnail mode for quick navigation and slideshow mode to display all pictures stored on the device.
Measuring 212 x 164 x 105 mm and weighing 730 g, the frame can be powered either from its internal battery for up to 50 minutes or by an AC adapter, and can also be set to power on and off at specific presets during the day.
Due out in Europe this summer, the Philips Digital Photo Display will be priced at €200 EUR.
