Gearing up for the launch of mobile network operator Amp'd in late 2005, Kyocera unveils the EV-DO-capable Jet slider with a 262K colour screen and MPEG4 playback.
In preparing for the launch of mobile network operator Amp'd Mobile in the US this fall, the carrier and Kyocera Wireless recently announced the Jet, a 3G-capable handset that is to be the budget flagship in the operator's initial portfolio. Supporting CDMA2000 1xEV-DO, the slider handset offers a number of advanced features including a 262K colour screen, the ability to play back MPEG4 video and more.
Built on BREW 3.1, the handset will feature a uniquely tailored interface for Amp'd Mobile, allowing for over-the-air downloads of music, videos, entertainment, 3D mobile gaming and more. To be the lowest-priced handset at Amp'd Mobile, the 3G handset incorporates features such as a 262K colour screen, a 0.3 Megapixel camera with 5x digital zoom and memory expansion up to 512 MB courtesy of a microSD memory card slot.
Equipped with dedicated keys to active the music player and push-to-talk features, the Jet also comes with the ability to play back video in MPEG4 format, support for MMS messaging, speakerphone functionality and picture Caller ID. Furthermore, the handset also includes an address book capable of holding up to 500 contacts, a scheduler, calculator, alarm clock, stopwatch, vibrating alert and voice-activated dialing.
Measuring in at 99 x 49 x 22 mm and 110 g, Kyocera Wireless claims a talk time of up to 180 minutes and a standby time of up to 180 hours from the 920 mAh Lithium Ion battery of the Jet.
