Announces its fourth-generation convertible tablet PC, Acer has introduced the TravelMate C310 series, which builds on its TravelMate C300 predecessor to offer improved performance. Retaining the majority of the feature set of the C300, the C310 offers a choice of the latest Intel processors, and its 14.1-inch XGA swivel display can now be powered by Nvidia GeForce graphics processors in addition to Intel GMA solutions
With a choice of either Intel Pentium M 740 or 760 processors running at respectively 1.73 GHz and 2 GHz, the TravelMate C310 can accomodate between 512 MB and 2 GB of dual-channel DDR2 533 MHz memory. Hard drives are available in sizes of 80 and 100 GB, and feature Disc Anti-Shock Protection (DASP) technology for improved data protection.
Boasting a 14.1-inch XGA display with a resolution of 1,024 x 768 pixels, graphics are managed either by a Nvidia GeForce Go 6200 graphics card with 32 MB of dedicated DDR VRAM supporting PCI Express and DirectX 9.0 or through the integrated Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 900 with up to 128 MB of shared memory and support for DirectX 9.0.
Furthermore, the C310 offers the option of a DVD Super Multi Double Layer optical drive or DVD/CD-RW combo drive, and is also equipped with 4-in-1 card readers which support SD/MMC cards, Memory Stick and Memory Stick PRO card formats. Additional connectivity is provided through 10/100/1000 Ethernet, a 56K V.92 modem, three USB 2.0 ports, one FireWire (IEEE1394) connector, VGA and S-Video out, Infrared, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g and, lastly, Bluetooth as a factory option.
Measuring 326 x 272 x 39 mm and weighing 2.9 KG, Acer claims up to 5 hours of battery life for the C310 in combination with the Intel GMA graphics solution, or up to 4 hours with Nvidia's GeForce Go 6200.
Running Windows XP Tablet PC Edition 2005, the Acer TravelMate C310 is immediately available in Europe and North America, starting at €1,415 EUR and $1,699 USD, respectively.
