Increasingly stylish, Siemens' S line gets a new member in the S75, toting an audio player and memory expansion, 1.3 Megapixel camera, Bluetooth and USB 2.0.

Placing an emphasis on music and imaging, Siemens has introduced the S75, a candybar model which is the latest in a line of audio-able handsets from the maker that pioneered the inclusion of MP3 playback in mobile phones. Due out this fall, the handset lends style notes from other recent Siemens models, and was also joined in its introduction by the fashionable SL75 slider today.

A tri-band GSM 900/1800/1900 MHz handset, the S75 supports both GPRS and EDGE Class 10 for high-speed data transfers as well as Infrared, Bluetooth and USB 2.0 for shorter range connectivity. Weighing in at a modest 99 g and with vital measurements of 103 x 47 x 19 mm, the handset embeds a 1.8-inch, 132 x 176-pixel transflective TFT display with 262K colours above its keypad, the former of which also doubles as a viewfinder for the integrated 1.3 Megapixel camera.

Equipped with a LED flash, dedicated key and digital zoom, the camera records video in addition to shooting stills, and also streams video in H.263 and MPEG4 formats. Furthermore, the S75 is also fitted with an audio player supporting MP3, AAC, AAC+ and AAC++ formats, claiming a minimum play time of 5 hours from the 20 MB of onboard memory and sporting the ability to filter music by way of metadata. Additionally, the S75 also has an RS-MMC expansion slot, for which a 128 MB card comes bundled.

With a claimed standby time of up to 300 hours and talk time of up to 300 minutes, the S75 offers a broad range of software functionality including a WAP 2.0 microbrowser, support for J2ME MIDP 2.0 and an e-mail client supporting SMTP and POP3 protocols. Additional features include an organizer for appointments, tasks and contacts, a unified inbox for all incoming messages and a newly redesigned address book with Instant Messaging and Presence support.

According to Siemens, the S75 will be available in 'Piano Black' and 'Zirconia' colour schemes from October 2005. The expected pricing of the handset was not disclosed.
