Due out later this year, Nokia's 6111 slider handset boasts a one megapixel camera, 262K colour screen, stereo FM radio and tri-band GSM with EDGE for high-speed data.

At its Nokia Connection event hosted in Helsinki and Singapore today, Nokia presented its first mid-range slider in the 6111, joining three other slider handsets unveiled at the event including the Nokia 6280 and 6270. Boasting an advanced feature set despite its compact form factor, the handset comes equipped with a one megapixel camera, integrated radio and 262K colour screen.

A tri-band GSM 900/1800/1900 MHz model, the 6111 harbours GPRS and EDGE for high-speed data transfers, backed up by Bluetooth, Infrared and USB via Nokia's Pop-port interface for PAN connectivity. In keeping with Nokia's typically comprehensive legacy support, the 6111 also includes HSCSD, as well as more novel features such as an integrated FM stereo radio with support for Nokia's Visual Radio concept.

Lacking the high-resolution displays of its 6270 and 6280 brethren also announced today, the 6111 harbours a portrait-oriented display with a resolution of 128 x 160 pixels and 262K colour depth which doubles as a viewfinder for the integrated 1 Megapixel camera. Capable of shooting both stills and recording video, the 6111 integrates a LED flash along with 6x of digital zoom. Video can also be played back or streamed over-the-air, and the 6111 also offers support for using MP3 or AAC tunes as ringtones.

Incorporating a number of messaging features, the 6111 supports both SMS and MMS as well as presence enhanced contacts and Wireless Village based instant messaging. In addition, the handset also includes an e-mail client with support for POP3/IMAP4/SMTP protocols, as well as Nokia's Xpress audio messaging and Push-To-Talk, the latter of which also has its dedicated button.

Further highlights include support for J2ME MIDP 2.0 and an XHTML microbrowser, as well as voice dialing and command features, polyphonic ringtones and several games - all at a weight of 92 g and vital measurements of 84 x 47 x 23 mm.

Due out in the fourth quarter of this year, the Nokia 6111 bears an estimated retail price of €270 EUR.
