Combining 3G support with good looks, Vodafone assimilates Sony Ericsson's K600i into its portfolio as the Vodafone V600i, due out early in the third quarter.

Expanding further on its licensing agreement with Sony Ericsson, Vodafone today announced that the mobile network operator will be carrying the Swedish-Japanese handset maker's K600i 3G handset - known in North America as the K600a - as the Vodafone V600i. Already carrying Sony Ericsson's Z800i and K500i as the V800i and F500i, respectively, the addition of the K600i as the V600i marks the third - and best-looking - handset to be encompassed by the agreement.

Offering the same feature set as the K600i with the addition of Vodafone live!, the V600 boasts a 1.8-inch, 262K TFD colour screen in a black-and-silver colour scheme that incorporates dual cameras. A front-mounted 0.3 MP camera and back-mounted 1.3 MP render enable 3G video telephony without the need to manually rotate the lens as is the case with the V800i, as well as more conventional uses such as taking pictures and recording video.

Telephony is courtesy of GSM 900/1800/1900 MHz support, and as has already been mentioned, the V600i is also equipped with WCDMA 2100 MHz support - or 3G, for short. Also on the feature list is integrated Bluetooth, as well as a stereo FM radio and MP3 playback from its 32 MB of internal memory; alas, the handset does not offer memory expansion, but is equipped with USB for rapid file transfers and PC synchronization.

Equipped with Vodafone live! services, the V600i offers up 3D games, music and animations, also enabling users to stream video content including live sports and music videos. Among the other applications found in the handset are a microbrowser and support for Java, as well as an e-mail client, instant messaging, SMS, MMS, PIM suite, file manager and more.

According to Vodafone, the V600i will be available in Vodafone stores starting in some markets in early Q3 2005. The operator did not provide any information concerning its expected pricing, however the K600i is expected to sell in the 375 EUR range.
