Improving on existing models, the 42" DynaPix Wide PD-42DX6 adds HDTV resolution and digital HDMI input to JVC's line-up of flat-screen plasma TVs.
Upping the total number of plasma flat-screen TVs offered by the company in the UK to three, JVC has introduced the 42" DynaPix Wide PD-42DX6. Matching JVC's previously largest model, the PD-42B50, in size, the PD-42DX6 offers higher resolution and more advanced input capabilities, featuring an integrated digital TV receiver and tuner.
Based around an XGA panel with a resolution of 1,024 x 768 pixels and 3000:1 contrast ratio, the PD-42DX6 is HDTV ready with support for 1080i 50/60 Hz and 720p 60 Hz signals. Featuring an integrated digital TV receiver (IDTV), the PD-42DX6 allows for the reception of digital terrestrial TV signals such as those offered by the Freeview service in the UK, where current analogue broadcasting services are scheduled to make a transition to full digital service by 2012.
Users will be able to switch from Freeview to pay-view services, and the TV also comes equipped with Electronic Programme Guide (EPG) which lets viewers surf through multiple channels as well as reserve a broadcast for recording programmes onto a VCR or DVD for later viewing.
Other features include a four-speaker system with 2 oblique cone and 2 bass speakers; centre channel input and subwoofer output terminals; virtual 3D sound; Active Hyper Bass and a 1500-page Teletext. Also expected to be available in other European markets shortly, the PD-42DX6 will sell in the £2,500 GBP range, or €3,600 EUR.
