Immediately available to its enterprise customers, mobile network operator Verizon Wireless has announced the introduction of palmOne's Treo 650 to its array of mobile offerings. The fastest version yet of the Treo 650, the version carried by Verizon Wireless is compatible with its CDMA2000 1xEV-DO network, boasting a theoretical download speed of 2.4 Mbps. Competitor Sprint, which
also carries the Treo 650, offers a version compatible with the slower CDMA200 1xRTT standard, which offers a maximum transfer rate of 144 Kbps.
Selling for $399.99 USD with a two-year customer agreement, the Treo 650 is immediately available to Verizon Wireless enterprise customers, whereas consumers must hold their breath until May 23, 2005.
