The latest marvel of a phone to grace Korean shores is Samsung's SCH-B200, sporting digital TV reception in a slider form factor with a 2.2" rotating display.
Continuing to introduce products in its home market that make handsets available in Western markets look embarassingly underdeveloped, Samsung today announced the SCH-B200, incorporating digital TV reception in a slider form factor with a rotating display. Relying on the DMB-T broadcasting standard gaining momentum in Europe, the SCH-B200 is due out in South Korea in the second quarter of 2005.
High-end features are rampant in the SCH-B200, which in addition to its ability to receive digital TV courtesy of DMB-T also incorporates a 2 Megapixel camera, MP3 playback and a 2.2", 262K colour display which slides up to reveal a numeric keypad - and rotates to allow for landscape viewing of digital TV.

Powered by a 1300 mAh Lithium Ion, Samsung claims users will be able to watch TV for up to 3 hours on the SCH-B200, which also boasts video output. Samsung did not comment on whether users would also be able to record TV, however the SCG-B200 does feature a TransFlash/microSD expansion slot which at least allows for the theoretical ability to do so without running into storage issues.
Uncommonly, the CDMA based SCH-B200 will according to Samsung also feature support for GPRS, which should enable the handset to work on European networks. This opens up the possibility for a version of the handset making its way to European shelves, with Samsung citing work done by the BBC and Nokia in DVB-H broadcasting to mobile devices increasing the likelyhood.
