The lightweight ST5022 marries 9-hour battery life and biometric identification with a 1.1 GHz processor and Windows XP Tablet PC Edition.
Adding a third model to the manufacturer's Stylistic series of Tablet PCs, Fujitsu Siemens today announced the introduction of the ST5022, a lightweight model weighing in at 1.55 KG with an A4 footprint. Sharing the specifications of other models in the ST502x series, the ST5022 adds a fingerprint sensor for biometric identification to an already varied mix of features powered by Microsoft's Windows XP Tablet PC Edition.
Utilizing an Intel Pentium M 733 processor running at 1.1 GHz, the ST5022 offers from 256 MB to 2 GB DDR RAM and comes with hard drives ranging from 40 through 80 GB. Powering the internal, 12.1" transmissive TFT display with XGA resolution (1024 x 768 pixels) is an integrated Intel 855GME chip which supports using up to 64 MB of main memory as video memory.
An anti-glare coating aims to allow for improved use both in- and outdoors, and the ST5022 can also power a secondary display through its VGA port at UXGA resolution (1600 x 1200 pixels) as well as integrates support for multi-display functionality.
A range of connectivity options are present, including a 56k V.92 modem, 10/100/1000 Ethernet, Bluetooth 1.2, two USB 2.0 ports, one Type II PCMCIA expansion slot, a dedicated Smart Card reader, an Infrared port and a combo Memory Stick/SD Card slot. Additionally, buyers can also opt for the inclusion of either Wi-Fi 802.11b/g or Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g
Other highlights of the Stylistic ST5022 include a dual microphone system which, according to Fujitsu Siemens, filters out background noise when recording, as well as a fingerprint sensor for biometric-based security. Furthermore, Fujitsu Siemens claims an impressive 9 hours of battery life for the tablet.
Available immediately in several European markets, recommended prices for the Fujitsu Siemens Stylistic ST5022 start at €2899 EUR, or $3,800 USD.
