i.Tech's virtual keyboard merges Infrared, BluetoothBy Jørgen Sundgot, Thursday 20 January 2005
i.Tech's new Bluetooth Virtual Keyboard uses Infrared rays to draw a virtual keyboard on a flat surface - and Bluetooth to carry the input back to devices.

Following a quiet period for virtual keyboards, the concept is back with a vengeance as Hong Kong based i.Tech launches its Bluetooth Virtual Keyboard, merging Infrared and Bluetooth technology. Compatible with a number of mobile device platforms, the product utilizes Infrared rays to draw a full QWERTY keyboard on a flat surface, registering user taps and sending input to devices using Bluetooth as the data carrier.

i.Tech Bluetooth Virtual Keyboard

With Bluetooth 1.1 support, the Bluetooth Virtual Keyboard is claimed by i.Tech as being compatible with Palm OS 4.x and 5.x devices as well as Windows Mobile 2003 devices courtesy of the company's own drivers. Vital measurements for the device read 90 x 34 x 24 mm, and according to i.Tech will provide up to 2 hours of continuous typing on a full charge.

The i.Tech Bluetooth Virtual Keyboard is now available in different markets, including Hong Kong and a number of Asian countries, selling for a suggested retail price of $199 USD.
