UK 3G network operator 3 has completed its first virtual rock concert broadcast to 3G mobile phones. For 5 GBP, subscribers were able to pre-register for the virtual streaming concert by rock band Rooster. The 45 minute concert was then streamed over 3's 3G network to 1000 subscribers, the maximum allowed for this trial, who were able to watch the concert in full motion video directly on their phone. Highlights were available later for download as well for all subscribers. 3 has not said when or if it plans additional virtual concerts.
