The LG VX6100 is a clamshell unit measuring 90.4 x 48.2 x 23.8 mm although weighing in at 109 grams it is a bit hefty. It's internal display is an increasingly common 256K color TFT display measuring 128 x 160 pixels, while the external display is a simple 96 x 64 pixel grayscale LCD for caller ID.
The main selling point for the VX6100 is its camera, which although it is the typical VGA 0.3 megapixel resolution with 4x digital zoom includes a dedicated flash, still a rarity for camera phones. Also rare but welcome is a sliding cover to protect the lens when not in use. Naturally it includes a small set of image adjustment features such as white balance and effects, typical to nearly all camera phones.
Other features of the VX6100 includes a speaker phone mode, speaker-independent voice recognition, and the usual assortment of Verizon-branded applications. These include Mobile Web 2.0, Verizon's proprietary portal service, for web and e-mail access as well as Verizon's Get-It-Now service for downloadable games, ringtones, and mini-applications. It also supports SMS, EMS, and MMS messaging, a 499 entry address book, and a small PIM suite.
The VX6100 is a tri-mode CDMA phone, supporting 1.9 GHz and 800 MHz CDMA 1xRTT bands for voice and data or analog AMPS networks for voice. The 1000 mAh battery is rated for 3 hours talk time or 150 hours standby.
The LG VX6100 is available through Verizon Wireless for $99.99 USD after $50 USD mail-in rebate with a 2 year service agreement.
