Home / Cell phones TI plans live TV for mobile phones By Larry Garfield, Thursday 21 October 2004 Texas Instruments is prepping a new single-chip solution designed to bring live broadcast television to mobile phones and other portable devices. Dubbed "Hollywood", the chip is designed to receive signals broadcast on the recently established digital TV broadcast standards for wireless devices. Although there are multiple competing specifications, TI anticipates that the two open specifications of Digital Video Broadcasting - Handheld (DVB-H) in North America and Europe and Integrated Services Digital Broadcasting - Terrestrial (ISDB-T) in Japan will be the dominant players and supports both.
