While many people "throw" away their old phones when they break or are replaced, few take that idiom literally. However, German Nico Morawa has set a new national record in Germany's latest sport, phone throwing. In competition, Morawa was able to throw is mobile phone 67.50 meters, breaking the previous record of 65.80 meters set by Heiko Scholl four years ago. Competition was tough, as Morawa had to defeat no less than 70 challengers to achieve his title. The competition began during the mobile phone boom of the early part of the decade when extremely cheap phones were plentiful. When they broke, a company in the city of Kamenz decided to come up with novel and entertaining uses for them.
It is unknown what model of phone Morawa prefers when throwing.
