US carrier Nextel is finally launching its first camera phone, the clamshell-design Motorola i860. In addition to a VGA camera with 4x digital zoom and video capture capability, it offers a large 2.2-inch color LCD display as well as the usual phone features, including Java support, a speakerphone, and voice-dialing. This is Nextel's first camera phone to ship, and includes other standard Nextel features such as Direct Connect Push To Talk (PTT) functionality spanning most of the Americas. It also supports MP3-based ring tones. In another nice touch, the i860 has a spring-loaded push-button to flip the phone open with one hand.
