Siemens is showing off its latest research into high-speed wireless data transmission at Mobile Internet 2010, a show sponsored by the German Ministry of Education and Research. On a test network before the general public, Siemens was able to transmit data at up to 360 Mbps, streaming data, voice, and Microsoft NetMeeting video conferencing over the connection. The technology uses a combination of Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) technology and "multi-hop" technology to achieve very high throughput. The technology is still far away from production deployment, however.
