Motorola is helping people take Bluetooth to new places. Specifically, motorcycles, courtesy of a new helmet designed by Momodesign.
Motorola and Momodesign have launched a new type of Bluetooth headset, this one designed for drivers of the other type of motored vehicle; motorcycles.
The Motorola / Momodesign Bluetooth Helmet is a typical motorcycle helmet with open-faced design and anti-scratch visor with a mounting on the left side for a Motorola-designed Bluetooth headset and boom mic, based on the Motorola HS810 Bluetooth headset. The microphone is designed for noise reduction and stability when biking, even at highway speeds. Controls are designed to be easily accessible in front, allowing the user to keep his hands on the bike where they belong except when actually picking up a call, and the battery is rated for five hours talk time or 100 hours standby.

The headset portion of the helmet is detachable as well, so it can be used independently of the helmet as well as for recharging. An after-market kit will also be available to attach the headset to other models of helmet using an adhesive.
Availability is expected in early 2005, although pricing is currently unknown.
