While most mobile phones are lucky to have 4 MB of RAM to store user data, Samsung's new SPH-V5400 phone offers a whopping 1.5 GB of storage courtesy of its integrated mini-hard drive. That gives the phone enough storage capacity for 300 MP3 files or over 280,000 low-res images.
Measuring 87.5 x 54 x 29.5 mm and weighing 126 grams it is not svelte, but offers an impressive set of features to back it up. That includes the aforementioned hard drive, as well as a 1 megapixel camera, MP3 playback support, video recording and playback, and optional TV-out for video. Its QVGA 240 x 320 color TFT display makes it useful for reading e-books, and of course it includes the usual high-end phone features such as polyphonic ring tones. The phone can also connect to a PC via USB as a USB drive to upload and download images, videos, and music.
For now, the SPH-V5400 is available only in Korea and and will cost a hefty $800 USD. Samsung is considering international availability sometime next year, but plans are not yet finalized.
